The photo does not tell you what the style is actually called, what it costs, how long you will sit for it, what is in the products, or who near you can do it. So the look sits in a camera roll with four hundred others and nothing happens.
BLK GLO is built to finish that sentence. You swipe a feed of real hair looks and save the ones you want. Each saved look carries its breakdown, its tutorial, and the products in it — and from there you can check a label against your own hair, keep a shelf of what you own, set the wash-day reminder your style actually needs, and find the chair that can do it.
Why hair only
It started wider — hair, nails, makeup, fits. Every one of those is a different shopping problem, a different vocabulary and a different kind of expert, and covering all four made each one shallow. In September 2026 it was cut back to hair alone, and everything non-hair was archived rather than quietly left to rot.
The narrowing went all the way down: hair-only is now the type system, not a filter the app remembers to apply. The six tools are what survived that cut, and narrowing is why they are worth using.
Where the directory came from
1,565 hair businesses were imported from open business data (Overture Maps, CDLA-Permissive-2.0). None of them signed up, so every one is labelled unclaimed until its owner claims it — on the card, on the profile, and on this site. An unclaimed listing cannot be booked and gives you the business’s own phone number instead.
Showing an unclaimed business as though it were a partner would be a lie about affiliation, and the app is built so that it cannot happen quietly. Whether a business is Black-owned is never inferred from open data either — that flag stays off until an owner sets it.
Who is building it
One person. There is no team, no funding round, no advisory board and no PR agency — and you will not find any of those invented on this site. The email address on the support page goes to the person who wrote the code.
Where it honestly stands
The app is built and being tested. It is not on the App Store or Google Play yet, it has no users, no ratings and no press — which is why there are no testimonials, download counts or logo walls anywhere on this site. When there is something real to show, it will be shown. Until then, this page is the whole story.
