Appointments

Booking a stylist through an app usually means paying and then hoping. This one is explicit about who owes what, and when: paying is a request, not a confirmation.

Paying is a request

You pick a service and a time in the stylist's own time zone, not yours. The slot is held for thirty minutes while you pay the deposit through Stripe. When the payment lands, the booking is pending — it is the stylist who confirms it, and until they do the app says pending, because that is what it is.

This is deliberate. An app that flips to 'Confirmed!' the second your card clears has told you something nobody has agreed to.

Cancelling, and the word refunded

Cancel and the refund follows the tier shown to you at booking: a full deposit back with more than 48 hours' notice, half between 24 and 48, nothing inside 24 hours. The clock is the server's, not your phone's.

The app only uses the word refunded once Stripe has actually issued the refund. If Stripe says the refund is requested, the app says requested. If it fails, it says failed, and it says so verbatim rather than showing you a success screen.

Finishing, and who can finish it

A client cannot mark their own appointment complete. The stylist completes it, or it auto-completes 24 hours after the slot has passed — and only then can it be reviewed.

What Appointments does not do

Every product page on the internet has this section. Most of them hide it.

  • Stylist payouts through Stripe Connect are not built yet: deposits are taken by BLK GLO and settled with the stylist directly.
  • Only claimed listings can be booked.
  • There is no stylist-facing app surface yet, so confirmations currently go through support.
