How it is done

  1. 10:02Gather a spray bottle of water, a tapered comb, a gel, oil or cream, clips and hair bands.
  2. 20:31Start on freshly washed hair and keep it damp the whole time, spraying with water whenever it dries.
  3. 30:31Choose a parting pattern, such as brick, triangle or free parts.
  4. 40:59Start at the back, applying product to the roots and along the parting.
  5. 51:34Place the hair at the top of the comb, catch any small loose piece at the base of the part, and twist to the right.
  6. 62:02Keep twisting while pulling the comb down through the hair. If it pulls, pinch the loc at the root while you work.
  7. 73:24Twist all the way to the ends; the loc should spring back up. Avoid using so much product that it turns stiff.
  8. 83:52Repeat the part, product, twist and pull-down steps across the rest of the head.
