The breakdown

  • Microlocs
  • Face-Framing Locs
  • Chin Length

How it is done

  1. 11:01Part the hair into small, even squares, about a quarter inch, to get the number and size of microlocs you want.
  2. 21:58Twist the end of the section and keep pinching it so the end stays intact and does not loosen.
  3. 31:58Interlock with a four-point rotation using your fingers, passing the end through the base from one direction and out the opposite side.
  4. 42:27Keep pinching the end as you pass it between fingers, and continue the rotation with your fingers until you are close to the root.
  5. 53:24Switch to an interlocking tool for the last bit of hair near the scalp, continuing the same rotation.
  6. 64:21Do most of the length with your fingers, since the tool is slow with a lot of hair; use the tool only to give the root a fresh, tight finish.
  7. 78:18Repeat for every loc: twist the end, rotate with your fingers, then finish at the root with the tool.
  8. 88:48Follow the four points in order (north, east, south, west), going in one side and out the opposite. Any starting point works if you stay consistent.
