The breakdown

  • Curly Bob
  • Body Wave Bundles
  • Ombre Bundle

How it is done

  1. 10:28Part the hair for an invisible part with no leave-out. Then slick all of it back with a molding gel and put it in a ponytail that sits as flat as possible.
  2. 20:55Apply a liquid protective cap and let it dry fully (she let it dry for 45 minutes, including the liquid cap). Trim off the extra cap and cut the ponytail's rubber band so it lies flat, but comb down the edges you left out so you can blend them in later.
  3. 31:51Measure one piece of weft and cut every part piece to the same length. Glue the first track about half an inch from the tip of the cap, then lay the rest parallel to it with a little space between, not stacked, on both sides of the part.
  4. 43:22Make a circle closure. Cut a small round opening, roll a weft tightly from the start, flatten it with flat irons and glue it into the opening.
  5. 55:15In the back, double-track your first rows ear to ear just below the ponytail at the occipital bone, using only a little glue on each track.
  6. 66:14Pull the next rows tight as they cross the ponytail so it flattens and the install feels snug. Then lay rows temple to temple, keeping the tracks in a uniform U shape.
  7. 78:55At the top of the head, lay the tracks in slight C-shaped curves to form the bang area, and fill in the rest of the space.
  8. 810:19Comb the curls out into an even body-wave pattern. Then start cutting with a razor comb at the middle section, letting the hair fall naturally instead of pulling it, because pulled hair springs back much shorter.
  9. 911:27Lay the hair on the back of the head and cut downward at an angle, pulling it back toward the middle so the front falls longer. Glide the comb flat down the back of the head to make a soft stacked bob.
  10. 1015:44Comb the bang area all the way back and cut down, using the shortest piece at the top back as your guide.
  11. 1116:12Smooth edge control onto the edges you left out and wave them into the curl pattern so they blend with the unit.
  12. 1217:31Set a metal rat-tail comb in the center of the part and spray a black hair-color spray along it. Then mist the part with hairspray so the color dries and doesn't rub off on hands.
