The breakdown

  • Twist Out
  • Coil Definition
  • Chin Length

How it is done

  1. 10:00Wash and deep condition the hair, then blow-dry it with a reverse-air dryer for a heat-safe stretch.
  2. 20:29Part the detangled, stretched hair where the curls should fall, then clip it into many sections.
  3. 30:57Work a medium-hold mousse through a medium section with a detangling brush. Braid the base briefly, then two-strand twist down to the ends.
  4. 41:24Finger-coil the ends and wind them into a small knot to define and protect them, then repeat with chunky twists of the same size.
  5. 51:52Skip misting with water to limit shrinkage, and add a little extra product to the end of each twist.
  6. 63:14Let the twists dry completely overnight, then untwist each one.
  7. 73:41Separate chosen areas a bit more for volume and lift the roots with the end of a rat-tail comb.
  8. 83:41Optionally, smooth the edges with gel, twist a small front section two or three times and pin it.
