The breakdown

  • Stitch Braids
  • Stitched Cornrow Lines
  • Long Braids

How it is done

  1. 10:00Start on freshly washed hair with a middle part, then part ear to ear as a halfway guide.
  2. 20:58With more than about eight straight-backs, put a row of knotless braids at the nape so the back isn't crowded and the neck isn't pulled.
  3. 32:57Your first braid sets the size; this set came to 12 straight-backs.
  4. 43:25Rough-part, slick the part with braid gel, then clean the line up with the comb.
  5. 53:25Braid a few turns before adding any hair so the front lies flat and natural.
  6. 64:52Tie off the end: pull out a small strand, wrap it, loop it through twice and pull.
  7. 74:52Pull out a little baby hair before braiding so it doesn't get braided in.
  8. 87:17At the front, add extension pieces no bigger than one leg of the braid; add a bit more toward the back to match the nape braids.
  9. 98:18Make the parts smaller as you go back: there is less room at the nape than across the front.
  10. 1011:40On the second side, match the top braids first; small size differences by the ear are the least noticeable.
