How it is done

  1. 11:00Gather about six packs of Kanekalon braiding hair, edge control, conditioning cream, duckbill clips, a comb and scissors.
  2. 21:27Feather the blunt ends of the braiding hair by pulling out random pieces, so braids taper and don't unravel.
  3. 33:17Part each section between two braids of the row above (brick parting) for fullness at the scalp.
  4. 43:46Split a small piece of braiding hair into two unequal parts and wrap the smaller around the bigger to make three legs.
  5. 54:15Feed your own hair into the leg between your index finger and thumb, with a little conditioning cream on your fingers.
  6. 65:11Rotate one leg over the other all the way down; always braid to the very end so the braids never unravel.
  7. 76:39Trim stray hairs carefully without cutting the braid, and don't braid too tight at the root.
  8. 87:35For fine or silky hair, split your hair into two pieces and feed it into two legs so the braid can't slip.
  9. 910:24Oil your scalp by moving the braids to one side and working across, edges first.
