The breakdown

  • Sleek Afro Puff
  • Laid Edges
  • Crown Placement

How it is done

  1. 10:58Start with stretched hair, such as braids taken down after a few days, with the scalp oiled and leave-in applied.
  2. 22:48Comb through with a wide-tooth comb or pick to remove knots and stretch the hair further.
  3. 33:17Brush back the edges and nape with a firm brush.
  4. 43:44Mist the hairline, front, and back with water to soften the hair before adding gel.
  5. 54:13Apply a strong gel along the hairline and upward over the whole head, including the nape.
  6. 65:22Layer an edge control over the gel for an extra-sleek finish.
  7. 76:19Tie a long cord at the front of the head, slide it up to the crown to form the puff, and secure it with a bobby pin.
  8. 88:13Tie one satin scarf tightly over the front and another over the back to lay the hair flat.
  9. 98:47Stretch the puff with a wide-tooth comb and leave the scarves on for 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. 109:17Remove the scarves and style the edges with edge control and an edge brush.
