How it is done

1. 10:05Section the top half of the locs and gather it into a high ponytail, raking your fingers through.
2. 20:34Keep bringing more of the front locs up into the ponytail.
3. 31:03Tie the ponytail with one of your own locs in a shoelace knot; it holds better than an elastic.
4. 41:03Fold the ponytail toward you, over and over, until it reaches the base: the fold is what shapes the bun.
5. 51:32Pin the bun in place with 3-inch pins.
6. 61:59Finish with a few drops of retwist oil on the bun.
7. 75:43For a twisted bun, rake the locs up, twirl them and let the twist wrap around itself, then tuck the end.
8. 86:103-inch pins slide right through locs; pin as you go so there's less to fix afterwards.
9. 96:36Hold the bun down with one hand while the other tucks.
